Virgin London Marathon Sunday 25th April

One of the benefits of affiliatiing to UK Athletics is that it is usually possible to secure some guaranteed places for the London Marathon, next year on 25th April. We have to watch out for media releases telling us where to apply, and in this respect I am always grateful to Debbie who trawls the running magazines to find out the details.  However once again there have been no details published so I took the liberty of writing direct to the same address as in previous years.

Our club allocation has been received.  The number of places we get back is in direct correlation to the number of Club individuals who are affiliated to UK Athletics, not the number of members in our club. So our allocation is based on the 18 TF's who paid their fiver to join UKA rather than the 140 members in our club.

The number of guranteed entries received this year is two.  Successful applicants still need to pay and get processed in the normal way but you are guaranteed to get in.  Cost is £28 and the closing date for submission is 8th January 2010.

As these tickets are in direct correlation to those who paid their UKA fee, these places will be offered first to these people. If just two apply they get the tickets; if more than two apply then we will hold a ballot. I suggest the ballot (if required) will be held after the Christmas Cracker on the 13th; so please ensure interested parties let me know if they wish to make themselves eligible
